EG4.1 Water Abstraction Permit Management : Current Practices and Alternatives in the Shiyang River
The water resources in the Shiyang River Basin (SRB) are under considerable stress. This situation needs to be improved by introducing a strengthened system for water resources management. One of the most important aspects of this is a system of abstraction permits with strong procedures for management and enforcement of permits. This Example document outlines the current situation, the problems arising from this situation and makes recommendations for resolving these problems, providing detailed guidance on abstraction permit management for groundwater.
