SocioEconomic Monitoring for Agricultural Water Demand Management - Gansu Province
This Example document analyses the socio-economic data for 6 project villages in Gansu Province. The purposes of the data collection are as follows: • To monitor project progress: the data reflect the changes in the project area in these three years regarding social-economic development, water use and irrigation management in the selected villages. • To suit the requirements for entry into GIS for permit management. • As part of a programme to encourage water user associations (and others) to collect data for water management. The document covers the following topics: • Purpose and methods used in the survey • Demographic data and social economic information (population, income, poverty, agriculture, livestock) • WUAs, water resource, water use, irrigation facilities, soil condition • Presentation of socio-economic data in the GIS • Conclusions
